Another thought on the response to Vint Cerf’s comments in the mainstream media, with a nod to my colleague Caroline who pointed this out when we were talking about yesterday's post - despite all the words devoted to Cerf’s concerns about digital records, archivists and records managers aren’t mentioned as part of the solution. The focus has been on what technologists can achieve in terms of preservation and what historians might do with the records thereafter.

Draw your own conclusions about the profile of recordkeepers and recordkeeping. My view is that we should be pleased that issues that are important to us are being discussed. This is an opportunity to engage. It's been interesting to watch the reaction of recordkeepers and digital preservationists on Twitter. They've been using the DPC's ‘nodigitaldarkage’ hashtag to do just that.
